Why it sparks inspiration

Have you asked yourself, “am I doing the right thing?” when practicing culturally responsive early childhood education? In four five-minute videos, educators will learn about the concept of culturally responsive teaching practices and learn strategies to reflect on and improve their approaches. This video series includes shared definitions, actionable insights, and guidance on how to incorporate children’s cultural identities into daily teaching practices.

The first video talks about the definition of cultural responsiveness and identifying simple practice. The second video discusses ways educators can include culturally responsive practices in their teaching pedagogy. The third video provides examples of ways educators can engage families and children in their program settings. Finally, the fourth video is a personal story told by the presenter on the impact of using culturally responsive practices in program settings.

Watching these videos can help educators build stronger relationships, foster inclusivity, and create more culturally affirming learning environments for children.

"Culturally responsive practices help educators create student-centered learning environments that affirm racial, linguistic, and cultural identities, prepare students for rigor and independent learning, and empower students as agents of social change."
