Why it sparks inspiration

Building a Home shares the heartfelt stories and artwork of six children from Syria, Kazakhstan, Mexico, and Pakistan, now living in Nogojiwanong-Peterborough in Ontario. Readers will gain insight into the experiences of immigrant children, including the joys and challenges of new beginnings. This e-book, which is available in English, French, and seven other languages, includes beautifully illustrated stories and reflections that highlight resilience and adaptation. Educators can use this e-book to foster empathy, build cultural understanding, and promote inclusive communities that celebrate diverse backgrounds.

“We were building a home to call our very own. All the friendships and experiences helped me see we were safe in a beautiful place to be.”
